What Official Wage Data Says Across Seven Countries

TransparentRate now presents reviewed national occupation-wage evidence for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, Germany, and Sweden. The useful story is not a global rate league table. It is a clearer way to see what each official source measures, where it is comparable, and where it is not.

Seven sources, preserved in their own units

Each Certified Local result begins with an official employee-wage statistic. TransparentRate keeps the publisher’s native period and currency visible, then applies its disclosed employee wage × 1.75 planning coefficient once when a publishable Direct or Strong mapping is available. The resulting planning benchmark is not an official freelancer-rate statistic.

That distinction matters. An hourly U.S. percentile, a weekly Australian earnings figure, and a monthly German median do not become comparable merely because a website can convert currencies. Their employee populations, classifications, reference periods, and published statistics differ. We therefore do not publish a “highest-paying country” ranking from these figures.

What is actually reviewed

The current catalog contains 98 core occupations and 1,794 searchable job-title aliases. For every country–occupation record, TransparentRate records the national classification, source reference, native unit, mapping confidence, and availability state.

This is why a Certified Local country is not a promise that every occupation will have a local primary. Evidence status is record-specific, and the calculator shows the reason when a local value cannot lead.

What freelancers can take from the data

Official occupation data can make a quote conversation more grounded: it supplies a traceable employee-wage anchor, a source date, and a visible match quality. It cannot know a freelancer’s scope, client market, urgency, contract structure, overhead, tax position, or bargaining leverage.

The most defensible workflow is therefore simple: start with the source-backed result for your occupation and country, read the mapping and unit, then use actual project circumstances to form a quote. Do not treat an employee statistic—or TransparentRate’s modeled planning conversion—as a market guarantee or personal minimum.
